Wart Treatment

Warts are skin growths that are caused by a virus, and they can be very difficult to cure. And no, they are not caused by toads or frogs.

Dr. Miles is trained in multiple treatments of skin warts. Unfortunately, no single treatment works every time. The warts can also come back after they appear cured. The most common medical treatments provided today include topical treatments, cryotherapy (freezing with liquid nitrogen) and cautery (burning.)

Dr. Miles uses these treatments but also performs a lesser-known treatment: injection therapy. This procedure is as effective as other treatments and is especially good for warts that have been resistant to other forms of therapy. One advantage of this treatment is that the potential for scarring and other long-term side effects is much lower. The injection helps to stimulate the immune system and get the immune cells to fight and kill the wart virus. The injection is placed in or around the wart or warts and is usually less painful than freezing or burning the wart. And there is no open wound after the procedure. Injection therapy works exceptionally well for those with robust immune systems, like younger adults and children.
